Family Pet Zone

The Family Pet Zone is the place that you can come for information and fun regarding your pets.

Many of us regard our pets as full-fledged members of our families. Here in the Family Pet Zone we will explore some of the things that make our pets special, take a look at things other pet families have found that make their lives easier and more fun for both people and pets. Special equipment, activities, health issues and other areas of interest will be explored.

Our articles and advertisers want you to have happy and healthy well-adjusted pets. This is why we advocate learning as much as possible about your particular pet. All animals need exercise, affection and boundaries. This is not just for them but for you. If your pet rules the household you will not be happy. If you do not provide for your pets needs your pet will be unhappy and can turn destructive, chewing up household goods or themselves or snarling at or trying to bite our friends. In order to keep both ourselves and our pets happy we need to combine our lives and needs to work for our mutual good. This can be quite an adventure and on the way you may discover new friends and interests and have a great deal of fun. If you have a friend who is attending an obedience, tracking, agility or freestyle class with their dog ask if they are having fun, I bet you will get an enthusiastic YES!

Sometimes we come up against problems that we do not know how to handle and hopefully our articles and advertisers will be able to provide some help. Always check with your veternarian if your animals behaviour suddenly changes for the worse. There could be a physical problem that is causing the change. If your animal checks out as healthy look further and hopefully our site will help.

We showcase Karen Pryor Clickertraining on this site because it works. If you stick with it you can increase communication between yourself and your pets. Karen Pryor's reasonably priced  Getting Started Clicker Training Kits cover puppies, dogs, cats, horses and birds. Of course a clicker training class is the best way to learn but if that is not possible the kits are a great way to go.

Please look around and enjoy this site. New articles will be added every month so don’t forget to check back. Please make us a “favorite site”.
